Kay Barnes is an accomplished national and international watercolor workshop instructor based out of her watercolor studio and gallery close to Seattle in Woodinville, Washington. Her light, friendly watercolor instruction style, the artistry in her own paintings and an encyclopedic knowledge of watercolor painting technique give Kay a unique opportunity for mentoring and coaching her watercolor students to their own award winning work. This open and encouraging approach to instruction has made her a favorite wherever she teaches her watercolor classes and watercolor workshops. Many of her students have gone on to acceptance and awards in regional and national juried watercolor shows.
Kay designed and produced a unique Artists Glazing Tool kit with instructional DVD to enable artists of many differing media, watercolor, oils, acrylic and graphic arts to have a tool set to see how glazing differing colors over each other will affect the outcome of a painting prior to committing to application of paint.
With frequent regional and national watercolor workshops, private art instruction and weekly art classes in her beautiful studio she inspires people to find their own expressions in their watercolor painting. In the words of one student, “True master watercolor instructor that she is, Kay Barnes projects the attitude not of ‘be all you can be’, but rather ‘be all that you already are’.”
